Ceremony

Our ceremony occurs at three o’clock on the first Sunday of every month at the RAF Memorial in Brookwood Military Cemetery. Everyone is welcome.

The ceremony has two forms; a short and a long version. In general, the longer version is performed, with the short version being substituted when appropriate.

The longer version can be a multi-cultural affair with components substituted as necessary. Generally, it will take the form of a traditional Christian ceremony along these lines:

  • Prayer
  • Hymn
  • Individual Remembrance
  • Last Post
  • Exhortation
  • Silence
  • Reveille
  • War Poem and / or hymn
  • Prayer
  • National Anthem

The short version is usually substituted when the weather is poor and will run along these lines:

  • War Poem
  • Individual Remembrance
  • Last Post
  • Exhortation
  • Silence
  • Reveille
  • National Anthem

For the Individual Remembrance, we always remember one person, but may remember more if possible. See Individual Remembrances.

All the ceremonies that have been held, or other ceremonies that Members of the Brookwood Last Post have attended may be viewed in Past Ceremonies.
